The Office for Research and Doctoral Studies is the main office responsible regarding any questions connected with Research and Doctoral Studies at Paris University 13. These responsibilities are divided into two separate groups but are closely connected between administration, Research Management and the administration of the Doctoral Schools.
The total research budget is €3,340,400 (excluding the Industrial and Commercial Activities Service), of which €770,000 is managed by the Office for Research and Doctoral Studies.

  • Administrative organization of the Research Committee

    • Preparation of the Research Committee and its Office (12 per year)
    • Follow-up of the execution of decisions
    • Reports on meetings and statements of decisions to be delivered to the Board of Directors
    • Coordination of the human resources issues of teaching researchers and temporary teachers and researchers (recruitment, promotions, training allowance for PhD students and research projects (PEDR)

    Research Management

    • Launch and management of calls for proposals initiated by the Research Committee (Research Quality Bonus funding, conferences, publications, platforms and associations, guest professors)
    • Preparation and follow-up of the research component of the five-year agreement (coordination and management of evaluations)
    • Allocation of research loans and financial monitoring
    • Assistance in the management of research
    • Production of indicators

    The Office for Research and Doctoral Studies is also responsible for the following:

    • Coordination between the different bodies of the university, the laboratories and the Doctoral Schools in the implementation of the decisions of the Research Committee.
    • Support for the laboratories
    • Financial management of scientific projects and follow-up of contracts for laboratories

    Accreditation to Supervise Research

    • Management of student registration (50)
    • Organization and follow-up of the defense of PhD dissertations with the authorization of the Research Committee

  • PhD

    • Management of student registrations (700)
    • Organization and follow-up of the defense of PhD dissertations (110 defenses per year)
    • Management of international joint supervision of research (20 per year)

    PhD employment contracts (150 over three years)

    • Implementation of campaign to recruit teachers (2 sessions per year)
    • Management and follow-up of teaching (42 per year) and research (47 per year) contracts
    • Follow-up of agreements (Île-de-France region, General Committee and EPSC)

    Doctoral training

    • Preparation, implementation and management of teaching (600 hours per year)
    • Coordination with the Doctoral Schools and careers services for PhD students (CFDIP of Sorbonne Paris Cité)
    • Management and follow-up of student registrations and ECTS credits according to individual needs

    In direct collaboration with the three Doctoral Schools

    The Office for Research and Doctoral Studies manages communications regarding Research and Doctoral Studies

    • Management and distribution of information (call for proposals of the Research Committee, assessments of dissertation defenses, authorization to supervise research, Research Committee report)
    • Organization of events (Research Day, PhD graduation ceremony, Welcome event for new teachers, ceremony for the award of honorary doctorates)
